Books And Beats 4/15

Happy Monday, friends! Here at The Five Sixteen Co. we have a mission to equip you with truth and resources to let your light shine -- so, we're popping in to do just that! Here are a few books, beats (music), and Bible verses to carry you through the week.

Books we're loving:

Now and Not Yet by Ruth Chou Simons

In her new book, Now and Not Yet: Pressing in When You’re Waiting, Wanting, and Restless for More Ruth Chou Simons reminds readers that “someday is made up of thousands of right nows.” Simons writes with a unique kindness, her truth-filled words are wrapped with gentle grace. If you are feeling restless or trapped, find yourself unhappy with your right now and longing for a season that has not yet come, this book is for you. Dive into Now and Not Yet with a Hardcover, or find it on Kindle or Audible.

Beats we can't get enough of:

Our God Will Go Before Us - Matt Boswell & Matt Papa

Our God Will Go Before Us is the third volume of hymns from Matt Boswell and Matt Papa, recorded live at the Bridgestone Arena during Keith & Kristyn Getty’s annual Sing! Conference. The album features guest artists including Michael Cochren of Cochren & Co., Keith & Kristyn Getty, Matt Redman, and Sandra McCracken and was produced by the incredible Nathan Nockels. The most important aspect of this album is that the Word of God and the message of the gospel shines through each track — our hearts need to hear and meditate on songs like these. My personal favorites are “Run and Run,” “Completely Known, Completely Loved,” and the new version of “His Mercy is More” featuring Cochren & Co.

Hold Me Savior - Skye Peterson & Sandra McCracken

I’ve been waiting for this one for a while. I am thrilled that “Hold Me Savior” is finally out for all to hear! The beautiful lyrics, crafted by a dream team of writers (Bryan Fowler, Sandra McCracken, Skye Peterson, and Ben Shive), frame a wonderful prayer for the Christian life. I encourage you to pray the lyrics as you listen, asking the Lord to hold, guide, and keep you through the different trials and journeys of life.

Bible verses we're meditating on:

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? … I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” — Psalm‬ ‭27‬:‭1, 13‬-‭14
