Books And Beats 2/27

Happy Monday, friends! Here at The Five Sixteen Co. we have a mission to equip you with truth and resources to let your light shine -- so, we're popping in to do just that! Here are a few books, beats (music), and Bible verses to carry you through the week.

Books we're loving:

Word in the Wilderness: A poem a day for Lent and Easter by Malcolm Guite

Malcolm Guite is an exceptional poet and curator of meaningful resources for believers. Let this collection of poems feed your mind and carry your heart through this Lenten/Easter season.

Margin: Restoring Emotional, Physical, Financial, and Time Reserves to Overloaded Lives by Richard Swenson

"Margin" by Richard Swenson has become an annual read for me - it is a great "reset" and reminder for me to slow down and rest. Written by a Christian medical doctor, it offers a unique perspective on the impact overload has on our minds and bodies, and offers a prescription for restoring margin in the various areas of life. If you are feeling burned-out, tired, stressed, or simply like you don't have enough time in your day, I highly encourage you to read this book!

Beats we can't get enough of:

I Can't Find the Edges of You by Citizens

I first got a glimpse of this album at an intimate release party with Citizens' lead singer, Zach Bolen, and have been eagerly awaiting its release ever since. Fresh sounds and honest lyrics fill each of the eleven songs - working together to evoke joy, hope, and moments of worshipful reflection and repentance as you listen and sing along. I encourage you to listen to the full album (in order) to experience the journey these songs will take you on.

I Am Not My Own - Single by Skye Peterson and Keith & Kristyn Getty

This song!! I don't have enough words to express my excitement about it. Writers Skye Peterson and Ben Shive tackle the tough topic of identity, drawing from scripture and the Heidelberg Catechism to craft lyrics that remind us of who we are and whose we are. Let the words wash over you today.

Bible verses we're meditating on:

“Restore to me the joy of my salvation.” Psalm 51:12a
